Tips to Keep Safe While Staying Warm

Tonight is supposed to dip into below freezing temperatures with frost advisories….BRRR!

Make sure when you keep warm, you do so safely, because half of home heating fires are reported during the months of December, January and February. (source National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)).

The NFPA reports that space heaters are involved in 32% of home heating fires and 79% of home heating fire deaths.

Remember these important tips to keep warm and safe:

  • • keep them level and at least 3 ft. away from anything flammable!
  • • never leave them running!
  • • avoid using an extension cord!
